English Camp - Marist-TCDF

The 2008 Marist English Camp was held during the first week of April at Mittapharp School, Ranong. The camp was a joint effort between MMR and TCDF (Thai Child Development Foundation), with the help of Mittapharp School.
A group of 34 students and 5 teachers from the ROC Midden Nederland, Holland, was part of this voluntary education program. This group ran activities over the course of the three-day camp. Some 82 children from four of the Burmese Learning Centers and from a Thai school participated in the camp. The theme was “Adventure Travel”, and the days were filled with fun, joy and laughter.
As well as extending their knowledge of the English language, local students were also able to experience an exchange of cultural knowledge with their Dutch visitors by way of greetings, drawings of windmills, clogs, flags, and even the famous Dutch football jersey!
I’m sure that the camp was a wonderful experience for all involved, proving again that the language of love can cross all boundaries.
