Earlier this month, MMR began a three-month research project, seeking to connect with out-of-school youth in Ranong. There are many such children in our town, and often their situation is precarious, sometimes dangerous. This research is being undertaken by two young Burmese staff members, Theresa and Yin Yin Kyu, and is being supervised by Fr Kevin and Fr John. Sponsored by Save the Children (UK), it could be the beginning of a Children Protection and Welfare project.
“In truth I tell you, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter into the kingdom of heaven…Anyone who welcomes one little child like this in my name welcomes me…” Matthew 18:3,5 (NJB)

Last week, Fr John Murray, an Augustinian priest from Australia, stayed a couple of days. Fr John has been in Thailand for two years, working primarily in Bangkok for the Bishops’ Conference.

Fr Kevin temporarily moved from our community on Tuesday 15 January. Since arriving in Ranong last April, Kevin’s been studying language, while also working on various education projects. As well as getting some business done out-of-town, the next few weeks are also a chance for a period of more focused language-exposure. We wish Kevin well, and we look forward to his return!
