Letter from Mae Sot
Warmest greetings from Mae Sot Thai-Burma border! First of all, may I express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your care during my stay there in Ranong. Being with you for a few of days, I learned many good things. I thank you again for letting me experience the ways of your missionary lives abiding by the will of God.
I really enjoyed my stay at your dwelling as I was able to experience and learn from the lives of Marist missionaries. Your living atmosphere and practice bears a resemblance to a warm family, which has also given me spiritual liveliness for my heart and soul. I appreciate it very much. I value your upholding of the vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience. I pray that, by taking these vows, you are encouraged and empowered in your missions by the will of God our Father in Heaven.
On behalf of the Karen people, I express our gratitude for your help to our refugee youngsters for their living and education. Once again, I draw your kind consideration to sowing the seeds of the Love of God in this part of the world – especially in the Karen state where all kinds of inhumane brutality is inflicted on innocent men and women, children and the elderly. You are always welcome and encouraged to heal the sufferings of Karen people and to educate them in the love of God.
My vision for the cause of Karen people is for Kawthoolei: “a homeland of Peace and Prosperity where nations and their generations shall to come enjoy dwelling in her and building her in becoming a land without evil”.
To ultimately build a land without evil by sowing the seeds of the Love of God, we truly need you missionaries who commit themselves to the mission of Love, the mission of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Son of Mary.
May God bless you all…
Yours in His Love,
William
Director, Karen Marist Mission
