MMR Staff Training

On Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th February, a staff training workshop was held at the Chanel Community Center. Run by Save the Children (UK) and hosted by MMR, the workshop was also attended by staff from the International Organization for Migration, the National Catholic Commission on Migration, and World Vision, all of whom we work alongside here in Ranong.

Save the Children (UK) are currently sponsoring an MMR research project into Child Protection and Welfare issues in Ranong. During the course of the workshop, members of their Bangkok-based staff discussed various ways in which the welfare of Burmese migrants can be promoted in Thailand. Mr Sompong Sakaew, Director of the Labour Rights Promotion Network (www.lpnrights.org), was also able to share his wide experience of working with Burmese, particularly in Samut Sakhon.
