Their call is to be truly missionary: they are to go from place to place, announcing the word of God, reconciling, cathechizing, visiting the sick and the imprisoned, and doing the works of mercy. They attend especially to the most neglected, the poor and those who suffer injustice. (Constitutions of the Society of Mary, # 12) |
MMR runs various ministries to serve those who are in need in Ranong, especially Burmese migrants.
Health In this migrant town, there is a higher than average incidence of HIV/AIDS. Marist Mission Ranong wants to respond to the needs of both those who are sick with this disease and those who are caring for them.
Our trained staff care for those who are ill with HIV/AIDS in their homes. It is a community-based programme.
We offer support for the care-givers with self-help and training sessions. We facilitate hospital care when necessary and, in general, work to meet whatever needs arise for those who are sick and suffering. |
